Throwing Junk

As I was leaving the K yesterday, I overheard a guy talking with an Australian accent. I was thinking to myself, hmmmm is that an English accent? If it is, that dude's nose is going to get a Demonpenz Knuckle Buffet (I was going to punch him in the nose...and it was going to be all the nose could eat!) The guy was clearly Austrialin.... he had a crocidile necklace. That got me thinking, I wonder if he even understands the game and the lingo. So I passed Crocidile Dundee and I headed to my car...where I thought about it more. I wonder if that Austrailian dude knows what a Yellow Hammer is? I wonder if anyone knows what a Yellow hammer is? A Yellow Hammer refers to a curve ball that drops straight down and is thrown directly overhand. There are various levels of confusion going on whith this phrase. Let us begin with the fact that this type of "curve" ball doesn't curve. It drops straight down. Then there is the name. Yellow Hammer. When I first heard the phrase Yellow Hammer I thought the pitcher was out there with a giant inflateable Hammer (the tool) that was yellow. The kind of inflateable toy that you can Bonk!! your friends with "yes I just used the verb bonk"
It turns out that yellow hammer is a bird. I will wrap up today's blog with a confusing frightning frustrating conversation I once had about the Yellow Hammer Curveball.

Danny: This pitcher has a Yellow Hammer"
Demonpenz: What's a Yellow Hammer?
Danny: You know....a 12 to 6 Curveball
Demonpenz: What's a 12-6 curveball mean? Is that a hatsize?"
Danny: *long sighful sigh* No it is a curveball that drops straight down
Demonpenz: Like a Hammer! Hammering in a nail.
Danny: No, like the Bird the yellow hammer that drops down
Demonpenz: Like a Hammer! Hammering in a nail!
Danny: Goddamnit I hate you sometimes.
